Employee engagement in 2024

 Introduction

Employee's attributions, skills and competency are a minor part of the company's production. To get the maximum potential of the staff they need to take pleasure in what they provide and value the triumphs and achievements of the company (Cleary, 2022).

One of the most important aspects of a business is employee engagement. Increasing the involvement of subordinates fosters excitement, enthusiasm, and a feeling of community within the organisation.(Firstup ,2022).

There are certain factors which could cause low employee engagement such as managers not acknowledging their subordinate's good work, lack of communication between both parties, and employees unable to understand what's required by the company (Firstup, 2022).

Here are a few steps on how to enhance employee engagement

1. Providing feedback

Providing feedback is one of the key expertise a manager could possess. Whilst employees expect feedback from managers giving feedback brings a rapport between the subordinate and manager. which therefore increases the engagement between the two (Heinz).

2. Rewards

Appreciating employee's efforts and rewarding them would motivate them to work harder and make them more engaged towards the team (Heinz).

3. Outings and gatherings

Implementing outings and gatherings outside the working environment would bring a bond and chemistry between co-workers which would help when it comes to work and problem-solving (Heinz).

4. Skill development and  training

According to (Bergeron, 2022) 49% of employees want to develop their skills but don't know where to begin. Providing structured training for employees will make them more productive and engaged towards the company and prevent them from pursuing other opportunities elsewhere (Heinz).

5. Flexibilities

according to (Kaplan, 2021) 68% would leave a job for a lower income to have a better work-life balance. Providing work from home, flexible timings, accommodating parents to pick up children from school etc would motivate the employee and engage more towards the company (Heinz).

6. Promotions

According to a study by Parker and Horowitz (2022) 63% of the people would leave a company owing to a lack of opportunities in career progression. Offering career progression would enable to retain employees to seek newer opportunities and would be able to retain talent within the company. Moreover, by providing career growth, it shows the subordinates that the company cares for its employees and will make them engage more and work harder (Heinz).

Conclusion.

Employee engagement is a very important aspect because it helps to retain talent and help a company grow and expand mainly takes care of the employee's well-being and happiness which could contribute to the above-mentioned factor.
