Importance of work life balance

 Introduction

In today's corporate world, a healthy work-life balance is becoming increasingly difficult achieve due to continuous, fast-paced work. Nevertheless, you cannot neglect this factor because mental health and professional success depend on it. Work-life balance is a measurement of how a worker or a person balances his personal life with his profession in a manner that doesn’t leave one aspect on the margins in favour of the other element (Bello et al., 2024).

Burnouts and decreased productivity

There are multiple factors that can trigger burnout in employees and then eventually lead to decreased productivity at work. For instance, when an employee is faced with an unhealthy workload it could result it in denial on personal care, strained relationships and physical and mental issues that drive the pursuit of work-life balance. As a result, the employee will fail to focus at work and therefore a reduction in productivity. Furthermore, being aware of work-life balance and creating a healthy work-life binding will lead to increases in job satisfaction, less mental fatigue, improved creativity, and overall increased productivity. In a working life strategy, one needs to set the time zones of work and personal life. It could include things like setting a definite work time, ensuring that no distractions are present during non-work hours, and trying to decline additional commitments when it's necessary(Braswell, 2021).

Technology

Technology is a key contributor when it comes to work-life balance. However, it could lead to both positive and negative results based on how it is used.. Digital tools and remote work come with the convenience and flexibility of all-hour availability but these capabilities also cause overlapping of personal and professional life. The goal is to get a hold on healthy digital habits, for instance, switching off work notifications in times of personal matters and disconnecting from work-related communication networks as the situation demands (Deloitte, 2021).

Employees also have an equal responsibility same as the employer, to establish work-life balance. Organisations that aim for the work-life balance uniquely develop flexible work programs, sick leave policies, employee assistance programs, and initiatives that facilitate good health, among other things, by giving free access to fitness centres or training that assists in stress management. Conclusively, it is a very individual journey and needs self-motivation, management of boundaries and repeated alterations as life experiences vary. The way how an individual can have a great life comes from a high level of personal well-being and managing their work-life balance so they can remain on top of productivity.

Conclusion

In the hustling world of nowadays, it has become paramount to work hard enough to maintain a healthy work-life balance for your personal fulfilment and career success. Therefore through establishing borders, technology utilization constraints, and seeking support from employers, individuals are encouraged to achieve a balance between work and personal life. As a result it will lead to good job satisfaction, focused work, the ability to generate ideas, career progression and ultimately life satisfaction.
